Life Legacy


Amanda Chupp Hochstetler, age 73, of 10881 W 1200 N, Bremen, died at 5:10 am, Wednesday, at Elkhart General Hospital after a short illness with Leukemia. She was born September 2, 1937 in Oklahoma to Ray C. and Malinda P. Borntrager Chupp.


Amanda moved to Indiana as a child. On October 10, 1957, she married Jonas E. Hochstetler in Nappanee. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.


Amanda is survived by her husband, Jonas E. Hochstetler, sons, Glen Ray (Martha) Hochstetler, Duane Dean Hochstetler, both of Bremen, John Earl (Sara) Hochstetler and Gary Lee Hochstetler, both of Nappanee, daughters, Rosetta Sue (Dale) Hochstetler, Bourbon, Wanda Elaine (John) Kuhns, Bremen, 28 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a brother, Clarence (Sara Jean) Chupp, Bremen, and Mary (Ernest) Hochstetler, Nappanee. She was preceded in death by her parents.


Friends may call after 2 pm today and all day Friday at the family residence. Funeral Services will be at 9:30 Saturday at the David Slabaugh Residence (10889 W 1350 N). The Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lamar Schmucker, Marlin Helmuth, Arlin Yoder, Jerry Slabaugh, Gerald Yoder, and LeRoy Bontrager.
