Life Legacy


Helen Ruth Hoyt, 91, formerly of Nappanee, died Friday, December 02, 2011 at 4:35 a.m. at Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake, IN, where she had lived for over 2 years. She was born on March 12, 1920 in Watervliet, Michigan to Charles Guy & Emma (Price) Curtis. She had lived in Nappanee. Following retirement she had also lived in Venice, Florida for 30 years. She graduated from Watervliet High School. She also attended business school and was a Legal Secretary for Kindig & Sloat from 1958- 1980. Mrs. Hoyt was a member of the Nappanee United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed traveling, golfing, quilting and sewing. She married Marion Hoyt on November 17, 1940 in Watervliet, Michigan. He preceded in death on March 28, 1991.


She is survived by a daughter, Sharie (Pat) Johnson of Syracuse, 2 sons, Mike (Diana) Hoyt of Mentone and Jim (Rhonda) Hoyt of Richardson, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Tammy (Seth) Watkins, Tim Stump, Tracy (Chris) Bullock, Jeff (Denise) Hoyt and Jennifer (Cameron) Field; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Hoyt, 4 brothers, Dick, Lee, Don and Bob Curtis, and a sister, Dawn Zimmerman.


Visitation will be Sunday, December 4 from 2-7 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee and also one hour prior to the funeral service which will be Monday, December 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Nappanee United Methodist Church or Kosciusko County Hospice.
