Life Legacy
Joseph A. Whetstone, age 78, of 232 Plymouth Goshen Trail, Nappanee, died at 5:45 pm, Friday, at his residence. He had been in failing health since December. He was born October 11, 1932 to Amos and Mattie Whetstone in Marshall County, IN. On November 18, 1954 he married Katie Borkholder. She survives.
Also surviving is his daughter, Emma Sue (Marvin) Yoder, sons, David (Ruth) Whetstone and Ernest (Marlene) Whetstone, all of Nappanee, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sister, Anna (Paul) Graber, Guthrie, KY, brothers, Ervin (Edna), Topeka, John Henry (Wilma), Irvington, KY, Amos Jr. (Katie Ellen), Goshen, David (Alma), Nappanee, and sister-in-law, Sylvia Whetstone, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jacob and a sister, Gertrude.
Mr. Whetstone was a farmer and a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Friends may call all day today at the family residence, where funeral services will be held at 9:30 am, Monday, August 8, 2011. Bishop Kenneth Plank and the Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate, and burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.
