Life Legacy


Norman E. Yoder, age 69, 65287 CR 3, Wakarusa, went to be with his Lord on Friday, December 23, at 12:20 a.m. at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart. He was born January 2, 1942 in Centreville, Michigan, to Mahlon D. and Mary J. (Yoder) Yoder. He married Irene Mast on October 22, 1964 at Fairview Amish Mennonite Church. She survives, along with a daughter Lesa Yoder, North Liberty; and a son, Larry “Toby” (Sharon) Yoder, Nappanee; 3 precious granddaughters, Katelyn, Jackie, and Alexis. He loved to ride bikes and play games with his grandkids. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Martha (Mose Jr.) Coblentz, and Laura (Maynard) Hochstetler, both of Middlebury; 6 brothers, Kenneth (Lydia Mae) Yoder, Alvin (Esther) Yoder, and Fred (Becky) Yoder, all from Sarasota, Florida, Marvin (Linda) Yoder, Dade City, Florida, David (Wanda) Yoder, Union, Michigan, and Doug (Marlene) Yoder, Nappanee. He was preceded in death by his parents Mahlon and Mary, a brother, Vernon Yoder, and sister-in-law Carolyn Yoder.


Norman worked in various trailer factories and for 24 years, he was a salesman for Heckaman Homes. He was a Gideon and loved to pass out Bibles! Mr. Yoder was involved with the Westville prison ministry and a grader for Gospel Echoes. He was an active member of North Liberty Mennonite Church.


Friends and family may call Monday from 5-8 p.m., and Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Wakarusa Missionary Church, and also from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service which will be at the Nappanee Missionary Church, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Bethel Church Cemetery. Gilbert Miller, Levi Mast, and Ray Stutzman will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gideon’s International
