Life Legacy
Verda P. Wise, 88, Lakeland Healthcare Center, Milford, formerly of Nappanee, died after an extended illness Saturday at 4:40 a.m. at Lakeland Healthcare, where she stayed for the past four years. Wise was born August 25, 1921, in Kosciusko County, to Mary (Klotz) and Merl Mikel.
She was a homemaker and a lifetime Nappanee area resident who married Raymond D. Wise, March 3, 1946, in Nappanee. He preceded her in death July 11, 1986. She was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and a former member of the Northwood Circle Bible Study Group. She enjoyed reading, flowers and plants.
She is survived by a son, Merl (Diane) Wise, Nappanee; three daughters, Janice (Steve) Biller, Warsaw, Barb (John) Kindig, Goshen, and Betty (Dave) Hahn, Nappanee; nine grandchildren, Trent Biller, Todd Biller, Traci Drummond, Shelly Bugg, Sharrie Kindig, Wendy Delio, Ben Hahn, Christi Stankovich and Jeff Wise; 17 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lowell (Evelyn) Mikel, Orlando, FL.
The body will lay in state at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to the funeral which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Nappanee United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jan Brown will officiate. Burial will take place at Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nappanee Public Library or the Nappanee United Methodist Church.
