Life Legacy
Cheryl A. Gonzalez, age 57, Nappanee, died at 8:05 pm, Friday, March 9, 2012 at her residence after a long illness.
She was born November 13, 1954 in Gary, IN to George C. and Betty Hyde Sowards. She was a graduate of Merrillville High School and had attended Compton University in Long Beach, CA. On March 7, 1975, she married Daniel V. Gonzalez. They moved to Nappanee in 1991. Mrs. Gonzalez had been a pre school teacher with the Nappanee Head Start program. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church of Acts 4 & 12 in Bremen and enjoyed Bible Study.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, sons, Don C. (Fiance-Melissa) Gonzalez, of Lakeville, Mark A. Gonzalez, of Richmond, VA, James P. Gonzalez, of Nappanee, 3 grandchildren, Valeri R., Charlee, and Aden Gonzalez, sisters, Susan (Glen) Hochstetler, of Nappanee, Cindy (Joe) Lynn, of Bremen, and Mary Robbins, of Wakarusa, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Orton and a brother, Earl Sowards.
Family and friends may call from 4-8, Monday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for 1 hour prior to the 2:00 pm Funeral Service, Tuesday, March 13, at United Pentecostal Church of Acts 4 & 12 in Bremen. Pastor John Bollinger will officiate and burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
