Ruth U. Romin, age 84, of Heritage House, Nappanee, died peacefully at her home Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:15 am. She was born May 15, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Carl Axel and Gertrude Ling Anderson. On October 4, 1947, she married Alvin Romin Jr. in Chicago. He preceded her in death June 1, 1994.
Mr. and Mrs. Romin had moved to Nappanee in 1989 from Oak Lawn, IL.
Ruth had been the secretary at Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn for many years. She had also worked as a secretary for the Rock Island Railroad.
She attended Nappanee Missionary Church where she was active in the Women’s Bible Study and helped with the Grief Share Program. She was a longtime member of the Elim Evangelical Free Church in Oak Lawn, where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also an active member of the 16 Corp of the Salvation Army in Chicago. Ruth loved her family. She enjoyed singing in church choir. She enjoyed music and writing, especially poetry.
Surviving are daughters, Karyn Ruth (Myron) Bloom, Marathon, IA, Donna Jean (Don) Rohrer, Nappanee, a son, Paul Alvin (Marian Jean) Romin, Naperville, IL, 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and a sister, June Lundin, Kissimmee, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Kenneth, Wendel, Vernon, and C. Arthur Anderson.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 Wednesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for 1 hour prior to the funeral service which will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Nappanee Missionary Church. Officiating will be the Ministers of the church. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee Missionary Church or the Salvation Army.
